There are as many “natural hair journeys” as there are transitioning women. What I find remarkable about the movement is the way it is spreading through black women in America. Many are transitioning silently, without much fanfare.
I’ve been natural since 2004. It’s still a journey to be comfortable with the unruly curls that grow from my head; I still heat style my hair with a blow dryer and flat iron maybe once a month and wear it straight. It’s all about embracing yourself fully. I love my hair. Even though, sometimes, I think the grass maaaaay be greener ;)

ALSO,
it’s 739am, I should be sleeping because I got off work at 430a and have to go to lab to finish my final in 3HRS.
But, instead, I applied for a jewelry job on Craigslist.
UGH.
major pains of frustration that I DON’T HAVE a jewelry job, I have shit jobs.
I’m fucking qualified and sick of school.
*Note: Once you’ve actually made money doing what you love it’s near fucking impossible to do ANY OTHER JOB EVER AGAIN FOREVER.

I don’t even remember what it’s like to be happy for more than a few hours or a day at most at a time.
that moment when you realize you made yourself throw away your fav sneakers cuz they were beyond fucked and you wish you could resend that ridiculously adult decision and grab them out the trash but
they’re gone.
